Ensuring quality of hire is one of the crucial competencies when it comes to developing a culture of excellence and productivity. Job fit and culture fit are both necessary to strengthen the capability of the organization to cope with changes and crises.

This in-person workshop concentrates on the preinterview preparation; developing questions and their value; the interview techniques that get specific, behavior-based examples of past performance; and the strategies that follow through on this process.

This workshop takes the behavioral interview even further with a discussion of communication techniques and the use of other types of interview questions.

At the end of the workshop, the participants will be able to

  1. recognize the costs incurred by an organization when a wrong hiring decision is made;
  2. develop a fair and consistent interviewing process for selecting employees;
  3. prepare better job advertisements and use a variety of markets;
  4. develop a job analysis and position profile;
  5. use traditional, behavioral, achievement-oriented, holistic, and situational interview questions;
  6. enhance communication skills that are essential for a skilled recruiter;
  7. effectively interview difficult applicants;
  8. check references more effectively; and
  9. understand the basic employment and human rights law that can affect the hiring process.

Dr. Vida CaparasDr. Maria Vida G. Caparas, RPsy is a Genos Emotional Intelligence Practitioner and a licensed Psychologist. She is also a Wiley-Certified Everything DISC Trainer.

She graduated Summa Cum Laude in her Ph.D. Psychology at UST. She also obtained a Diploma in Public Management from UP Diliman as a government scholar.

Dr. Caparas is an Accredited Trainer of the Philippine Government with extensive and invaluable services in both government and corporate offices. She served as Vice President of HR in New San Jose Builders Inc., served as Director of Learning and Development for People Dynamics Inc. At GMA Network Inc., she also wrote for the Kapuso Magazine as the Managing Editor. She also became the Dean of the Graduate School at the Manila Central University.

Currently, aside from serving as a Consultant for The Profiles Group of Companies, she teaches in UST and Colegio de San Juan de Letran. She has authored five books in Psychology and Human Resource Management. Already a fulfilled academician and HR and OD practitioner, she has received a number of awards and recognitions.

Dr. Caparas was a Trainer Delegate of DFA-Foreign Service Institute in Italy and Singapore in 1999-2000.

 

Ms. Donna BuloronMary Donnavel Libron-Buloron, RPm is a licensed psychometrician with a master’s degree in guidance and counseling. She is now working on her PhD in social psychology.

Her career experience is a mix of academe and industry practice:

After graduating cum laude from the University of the Philippines–Cebu, Donnavel, who took up psychology, worked as a talent development officer at an HR consulting firm in the city.

There, she handled various training programs and organizational-development projects, honing her skills in training-outline creation, training implementation, and organizational assessment.

She went on to become the training officer of one of the city’s renowned nongovernment organizations.

As a training officer, she was responsible for setting up the organization’s training unit and overseeing the full training cycle, from planning to implementation and evaluation.

She was also responsible for creating the organization’s competency-based training, performance-management system, and succession planning.

Looking for opportunities outside the HR industry, she took a teaching job in one of Cebu’s prestigious colleges.

Donnavel has been teaching major subjects in psychology—such as psychological testing and assessment, social psychology, and experimental psychology—for the past nine years.

She has also been advising research projects and writing research articles for the college department’s journal.

While teaching, Donnavel ranked third in the 2015 psychometrician board examination nationwide. In the same year, she became the college’s guidance personnel.

Donnavel served as the psychology program head for school year 2020–2021.

Aside from her academic career, she works as an associate consultant and facilitator at People Dynamics Inc.

In this role of Donnavel, she helps develop training modules and leadership assessment tools, among others.

She also manages several consulting and research projects for the clients of the said organization.

People Dynamics is an accredited Learning and Development Institution by Profiles International, LLC., Wiley, Genos International, Civil Service Commission, and the Professional Regulation Commission.
